Reflections
Southern Coast of Yankalila, Australia
Art Direction, Photography
In this series, Reflections, we explore the intersection of self-perception, landscape, and the human condition through the use of a found mirror—an object both literal and metaphorical in its meaning. Set against the rugged and expansive southern coast of Yankalila, the images capture figures engaged in moments of solitude and contemplation, their reflections merging with the surrounding environment.
The mirror acts as a portal—sometimes revealing, sometimes obscuring. It fractures the landscape, distorts identity, and challenges the viewer to consider what is real and what is constructed.
The figures, faceless yet expressive, become vessels for introspection, inviting the audience to see themselves within the vastness of nature, to question the fluidity of their own self-image.
Through monochrome tones, we strip away distraction, focusing on form, contrast, and emotion. The interplay of shadow and light enhances the ambiguity, reinforcing the idea that reflection—both physical and internal—is never absolute, but always evolving.
With Reflections, we invite the viewer to step into this dialogue, to question their own relationship with identity, place, and the unseen narratives embedded in everyday objects. What do we see when we look into the mirror? And perhaps more importantly, what remains unseen?
